How do you use your microwave

May 9, 2008 - 8:24 am - Posted by Sherri R

One of the great modern conveniences today is the microwave oven. It seems that they have been around forever and advancement in technology have been slow there are some cool features on the newest ones on the market. We use ours for a lot of different meals to help speed up the process since we have three kids in sports and cannot not wait 30-40 minutes to cook a meal. I saw the ad for a microwave that will now be able to connect to the internet and download various meal plans and cooking times so that you never have to guess on how long to defrost your pork chops or cook your favorite vegetable. And since microwaves seem to be so reliable you hardly need to find locate GE Microwave parts in the event of malfunction. But if you do and we have had to find a replacement light bulb for underneath the microwave then you may want to check out partselect.com where they carry a large selection of parts for microwaves, stoves, and refrigerators.

Our class reunion

May 7, 2008 - 6:38 pm - Posted by Sherri R

This year we will be planning and holding our 20 year class reunion. Some of the activities that we have planned is a golf tournament, family gathering and the finale will be a dinner held Saturday night. For that we are planning several games and slideshows along with music from the 80’s to dance along too. Thanks in part to the digital age we will now be able to send everyone a digital memory book with video, pictures, and information from our class reunion. This will also be made available to all those who could not attend the reunion events. We found a company online called Buskerdoo.com that sells CD-Sleeves, labels, and inserts that will allow us to customize the CD’s and DVD’s that we sent as memory books. You can also find a great selection of DVD racks, mailers, and software to help with any audio project whether it be for your reunion, school project, or just trying to preserve those memories.

Equines

April 28, 2008 - 3:17 pm - Posted by Sherri R

My son has gotten it in his head that we are going to be getting a horse or a sheep. This all came about after we went to the rodeo a few months ago and he was allowed to ride one of the ponies. He also was able to do what is called “Mutton Busting” which is where kids seven and younger are placed on the backs of sheep and then they are timed to see how long they can stay on. The sheep are released out of a shoot like a bull and take off running towards the other end of the arena. It is quite funny to watch as some kids will fall off right out of the gate while others are able to hang on for the full 8 seconds. My son thinks that if we get a horse or sheep that it would be no problem having them in our backyard. I try to explain that there is a lot to owning a horse or any livestock. First you need lots of land, horse supplies, and time every day to take care of the horse. This is not like their goldfish where if they forget to feed them for a day it is ok. I finally told that once he gets old enough to have a job and buy his own place he could get all the horses and sheep that he wanted. So far this has kept him quiet for the time being.

Blogging makes me happy

April 25, 2008 - 3:19 pm - Posted by Sherri R

Get Paid Money to BlogEveryday there are thousands of new blogs being created for various reasons. Some people create a blog to express their opinions about politics, religion, music, or their personal life. I have seen more mom focused blogs start up in the past year and this shows where this industry is headed. Many blog to try and earn a few bucks off their website either through affiliate marketing, or paid to click ads. We actually stumbled on blogging by accident and was not our original goal when we first started trying to find ways to make money online. It was not meant to be a way to retire, but to add some fun money into our account for vacations and those impulse buys.
Our original blog was started out as quick and easy way to stay in touch with our members from our two traffic exchanges. Since email was becoming more difficult the blog helped us to stay in close contact with our members and provide more frequent updates. What we discovered that as we added content our search engine ranking and page rank went up rather quickly. And right about this time the blogging world was being looked at as a new way to advertise and help to generate buzz about companies products and services. So the timing was great and we joined up with a few companies and the response and success has been incredible. Today we have over 10 blogs that we maintain for various subjects and the money that we do collect is enough to help out on vacations, ski trips, and just fun stuff for the kids.
Probably the one thing about blogging that has made me the happiest is the friends and associates that I have had the chance to meet online and actually help get started in blogging. One was my sister in law who I gave her one of our blogs and she has done a great job with blogging weekly and makes a nice little income. Far better than what she was doing which was selling items through eBay which was a time consuming chore. The other great success is a friend for whom I have only met through email and the occasional phone call. Chris P is about 20 something and we had a chance email and I asked if he was interested in taking control of one of my blogs. He did and has amazing success with not only the dollars, but the amount of people that comment on his blog and he has come a long way in his internet knowledge. He writes all the time with new ideas on how to improve the blogging’s rank and even has aspirations to start his own blogging advertising company which I am sure he will do.

In the end if I can help change a few lives and make them just a little better then I will continue to blog. There is no greater joy than helping others succeed and opening worlds that they never knew existed. It is easy through blogging because all you need is a keyboard and enthusiasm about what you post about. I hope to one meet some of my new friends that I have met through blogging and we can all tell our stories on why blogging makes us happy.

Find your auto insurance online

April 18, 2008 - 10:50 pm - Posted by Sherri R

For most states it is illegal to drive a car without insurance. In fact, most auto insurance companies will not insure you if you are currently uninsured. They won’t even give you a quote. This is why it is important that you never let your car insurance coverage lapse. States will vary in what they require, as far as minimums. You also need to consider how and where you drive your car. Insurance rates will be much higher in a metropolitan area as compared to rural areas. Also, things such as do you use your car for work, highway driving, and how many teenagers you have in your home will affect your rates.

While shopping around for auto insurance there are a few things you can keep in mind to help reduce your costs. First, and the easiest to find auto insurance comparison is to shop around online. Don’t shop price alone. Ask friends and relatives for their recommendations. Contact your state insurance department to find out whether they provide information on consumer complaints by company. Pick an agent or company representative that takes the time to answer your questions. You can use the checklist on the back of this brochure to help you compare quotes from insurers and on the same coverage. Second, ask for higher deductibles, based on your ability to pay and the cost of the actual reduction in payments. Purchase your home owners and auto insurance from the same company as sometimes they will have a discount for multiple policies. Maintiain a good credit score, as this will actually play into how much you will pay.

Take time to exercise

April 15, 2008 - 11:39 pm - Posted by Sherri R

Spring is here and now is the time to get out and get exercising. The American Heart Association has teamed up with companies to form the Start campaign. This is where companies support fitness at work by encouraging their employees to walk and exercise more. People with home gym equipment are dusting off the equipment to help them get back into shape and get ready for the beach or swimming pool. The experts are now saying that even moderate exercise of just 30 minutes a day is beneficial and can be done in smaller increments. This is great news for working parents who have little time to make to an actual gym

Do you need reading glasses?

April 15, 2008 - 10:57 pm - Posted by Sherri R

I was sitting down on Sunday to read the weekend news and noticed that I was having to hold the paper away from me to actually read some of the articles. I never thought that I would need the assistance of reading magnifiers to help read the paper. While my vision is still good on a normal basis I have noticed that all the computer work that I have been doing lately has put more of a strain on my eyes. With more and more people sitting at the laptop or PC it is important to make sure that you take periodic breaks to rest your eyes so that you are not having to get reading glasses earlier than normal.

Diagnosis with Metholioma

April 12, 2008 - 11:58 pm - Posted by Sherri R

It can be difficult to diagnose mesothelioma because many of the mesothelioma symptoms are similar to those of a number of other conditions, including lung cancer and other types of cancers. At the time of diagnosis, your doctor will first do a physical examination and complete a medical history, including asking about the possibility of prior exposure to asbestos. There are many options and thanks to more sensitive teasing it can be caught earlier in the disease state. Baby gifts online

April 11, 2008 - 8:39 am - Posted by Sherri R

As Spring approaches it seems that this is the time for weddings and baby showers. What is great about today is that couples and expecting parents can register online and this making shopping for them much easier. So instead of having to travel to the local mall to find baby gifts you can now shop online and have the items that they want right there on your screen. This was not available when we had kids and while you tried to hint at what you needed you usually ended up getting too many of one item and having to take them back. Shop online and save yourself the trouble and you will almost always find the right gift.

Conservative John Fleming for congress

March 28, 2008 - 12:40 pm - Posted by Sherri R

John Fleming for congress

The 2008 election year will be one of the most historic in our time. With the Democratic party still in a dogfight over who their nominee will be the Republican party is staying the course and could benefit from all the mud slinging that is taken place. There are also many local and state positions that are up for grabs. And with several Congressional positions up for re-election the house and senate could be reshaped for 2009 and beyond. One of those races involves Dr John Fleming a conservative running in the 4th Congressional District in Louisiana. We had a chance to review his positions on many topics such as Controlling Illegal Immigration, Cutting Spending, Lowering Taxes, Defeating Terrorism, Protecting Right to Life, and Traditional Values.

Being a conservative and advocate for small business I am in favor of lessing the tax burden on individuals and businesses. Instead of increasing the size of government and creating more programs we need to allow the capitalism to flourish. John Fleming comes from a background as a small business owner and a physician so he knows intimately the struggle of business and the individual. He is not a professional politician that is looking to gain a power position. He has some great videos that outline his positions and what he plans to do about such as issues as fair tax, right to life, and national defense and security. Dr. Fleming went into the Navy after completing medical school and his stance is take a hard line on those that threaten this country and more importantly stand behind and support our troops as that protect our freedom. Electing individuals like John Fleming for congress can only help to strengthen our country in this time of uncertainty. We need leaders in congress who are not afraid to fight for the people and not just for a select few of individuals and interest groups.

Are you ready to change your look

March 21, 2008 - 10:30 pm - Posted by Sherri R

There are numerous procedures available today to enhance your looks. There are elective surgeries like breast enhancements to injectable solutions to decrease wrinkles or eyelid lift surgery that will give you a younger more appealing lure. There is a growing trend for men to have some type of plastic surgery done. Primarily those that are getting back into the dating scene after a divorce and looking to get rid of those love handles. There are certain risks with any surgery and this is why when looking for cosmetic surgeons you should always check to see their board qualifications and whether or not they belong to any professional associations.

When considering any type of plastic surgery you should always check their credentials and make sure that they are board certified in the field that they are working in. This can be done through local professional associations like the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. These large professional groups have a code of ethics and standards that Dr.’s must adhere to be part of the organization and can help patients when questions arise. With the rise in little boutique shops you would be surprised who is behind the scalpel.

Top plastic surgery requests

March 21, 2008 - 10:25 pm - Posted by Sherri R

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), has stated that the five fastest-growing cosmetic surgeries are procedures done to remove the excess skin. Approximately 68,000 “body contouring” procedures were performed last year, up 22% since last year. This amounts to over $700 million dollars in surgeon fees. This trend may be somewhat alarming in that people are finding a quick fix to shed unwanted pounds instead of changing their habits. There are other facial enhancements like revision rhinoplasty nose job repair that are in the top 10 as well.

This is particularly true in places like LA or Las Vegas where looks are everything and are part of persons livelihood.  In the land of endless entertainment image is everything. While the lifestyle is not typical across America, you will see some of the most beautifully sculpted bodies anywhere. They are in essence creating an illusion for their customers. The flashing lights, the beautiful show girls, and the ringing of the slot machines create the illusion that you are in a whole other world.

Who is George Lindemann

March 21, 2008 - 10:19 pm - Posted by Sherri R

A great way to expand your kids horizons is to take them to the local art museum. I know that this may not sound like fun to most kids, but today there are so many unique exhibits that have a kids focus they actually really enjoy the day long adventure. We recently went to see a dinasour exhibit at our local museum and our kids loved it. They also got a chance to see some different paintings in a different part of the museum and they actually came home and started creating their own masterpieces. If you can inspire your children to do more and creative things then you are well ahead of the curve.

Many people do not realize that most if not all museums are non-profit and rely on donors and local business people to reside on their boards. One of those business people is George Lindemann Jr donates their time and money to causes within their community. It is local business people like Mr. Lindemann who donate their time and resources to local causes and this should inspire us all to do our part.

A new class of watches

March 19, 2008 - 11:14 pm - Posted by Sherri R

classy watch

Having a watch is an essential part of my wardrobe and I almost feel lost when I leave the house without it. If you are used to wearing a watch there are certain mannerisms that you develop, or at least I do, that become quite interesting when the watch is not there. I do not have a real high end watch like the Patek Aquanaut which I just found online. I was unaware of this maker of fine watches and what exactly quality time pieces look like. A new class of wrist watch to me and maybe many of those that read my blog. They have a wide selection of mens watches for both business and casual.
