So when you are in the Spring and Summer months you may want to have lighter colored furniture and slightly more durable since you and the kids will be in out of the home more often and typically inviting their friends over. In the fall you can have that leather sofa with darker tones and accent pieces as you spend more time indoors and are more likely to hold dinner parties.

We recently had our basement finished and were looking for ideas for our flooring that would be creative and functional. I loved the idea of having hard wood floors, but in the basement our only option was the engineered flooring that looks pretty close. We found some area rugs that we could lay over the top in our entertainment area that would bring out the rustic wood color in our baseboards while still showing off the flooring and it turned out quite nice. The idea was to have a simulated hard wood look without making the basement to cold and the area rugs were just the right touch.

We were in the market for a new computer desk and as we did our research it struck that people will spend time researching computer desks that will look good with their PC but do not consider to spend any length of time to actually protect what is in their PC. If you like me and most Americans we store ton of stuff on our computers. My entire family photo album is on my PC and most songs that we have purchased through online services. I was thinking what a disaster it would be if our hard drive failed or some other unexpected tragedy were to occur. Some of us will back up locally a CD or DVD. This is good but what if your backup gets scratched or worse yet you miss place your CD.

We just purchase some new furnishings for our home and the whole process was quite tiring. We went from store to store to find the right dining room set, computer desk, and kitchen table and after a while everything started to run together. The furniture stores that we visited all seemed to have the same stuff and it was difficult to find exactly what we were looking for and the sales people only seemed interested in selling us on the special of the day. That is why we started looking online to help find more selections and become more educated on the different types of furniture and the right questions to ask so that we did not settle for lesser quality.

There are many uses for rugs throughout your home one of which is creating a transition space between open spaces and doorways. With more homes where we live being built with the “Great Room ” concept it opens up the possibility to decorate. One of the main things is to keep the flow from the kitchen to the family room and not to box off the room with furniture that would defeat the whole purpose of the “great room”. Our home has this transition space between the kitchen and the family area that is hardwood leading to the carpet. We found that using two contemporary rugs that had the various colors of the room and darker colors to bring out the hardwood flooring was a great piece to have in between the two rooms.

This one small decorating touch has almost added a social space so that when we have friends and family over they hang out in this area so that you are right near the food and snacks but still close to the TV and other people that may be relaxing on the leather couches. So if you are trying to find a piece of furniture that might help to fill a void in a room, try looking at todays contemporary rugs with their great designs and colors to fill that void.
