Flowers for Valentines Day

Posted on January 16, 2009 at 8:43 am by Sherri R

During Valentines day there will be more long stem roses ordered and shipped than during any other time in the year. In some cultures the type and color of flower can foretell about the future of the bride and groom and some are thought to bring good luck and prosperity. Roses are the most popular flower given during Valentiens day due to its red color standing for passion and love. The white roses mean purity, innocence, cleanliness, and virtue.  The red in roses raises the blood circulation and excitement. Thus, the red roses mean love and passion. Combining the white and red, you get the color pink. It means harmony, and fidelity. Pink roses are an expression of happiness to unite on the special occasion. There is even a tradition of preserving flowers that you receive during a special occasion in order to remember that specific event.

I remember specifically on Valentines day proposing to my wife and presenting her with a boquet of red and white roses. It was done intentionally to symbolize our time together to that point and what the future held. Now almost 17 years later she still remembers that day and the order and color of the roses. Every once in a while I will surprise with a boquet of roses with red and white long stem roses as reminder of where we started. I would recommend that this year for all the guys out there looking to get there wife or girlfriend flowers for V Day that you put some thought into into and surprise her with something slighlty different that she will remember for many years to come.
